FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions About Facials And other treatments.

What should I do (or avoid) before my facial?

We're so excited to be your first facial! During the few days beforehand, don't do any heavy exfoliation, peels, waxing, or other procedures. While we don't use steamers, beware that any false lashes or microbladed eyebrows can be affected by a facial. For those with a beard or other facial hair, try not to shave three days leading up to your facial. Please be open and honest with your Skin Therapist about what treatments you've done, what your goals are, and what products you use at home. There is no shame in any answer and your honesty helps us craft the best treatment for you.

Can I get a facial after having Botox or other skin procedures done?

We recommend rescheduling your facial if you have had Botox, fillers, chemical peels, or a skin procedure such as microneedling, microblading, dermaplaning, laser resurfacing, or laser hair removal within 2 weeks prior to your appointment. During the few days beforehand, don't do any heavy exfoliation, peels, waxing, or other procedures.

How often should I get a facial?

One facial can get great results, but where you can really see (and feel) a huge difference is with regular treatments. We recommend getting facials once a month as on average, skin cells turn over about every 28 days.

Can I get a facial while pregnant or nursing?

Our facials are safe for folks who are pregnant or nursing, as we are trained on which ingredients and modalities to avoid according to our standards. However, since every body and every doctor’s recommendations are different, please speak to your primary physician for their specific guidelines. When booking, make sure to include your doctor’s notes (i.e. which ingredients they may have advised you to steer clear of) and any ingredients you personally would like to avoid, as well.

Every brand we stock is cruelty-free and some are also Leaping Bunny certified. They're Organic, Vegan, Non Animal Tested and Fragrance free.

What gratuity is appropriate for a facial?

Just like other service industry experiences, 20-25% is considered an appropriate gratuity amount. But of course, if you'd like to leave some extra love for a stellar experience, you're very welcome to do so. We aim to have a streamlined checkout process, so you can leave your tip either in cash, Venmo, Zelle or on your card.

Why don't you use steamers?

Our method of a steam compress (warm towel) with facial massage and oil pulling relaxes the pores and softens the skin so that we can perform extractions without causing damage to the skin. While a steam machine is a common practice to relax the sebum (oil) in pores, it can actually dry out the skin and cause it to clam up the moment the steamer is turned off.  It will dry you out and irritate sensitized skin. We also avoid harbor bacteria from steamers.

Some clients think that the more extractions hurt, the more effective they are. This isn't true. This is our technique that to minimize discomfort and perform extractions without causing damage to the skin to get out the mix of sebum, dirt, and debris in pores.
